During the 82nd meeting, the WAITRO Executive Board has decided on the new hosts of the Regional Focal Points for 2019 to 2020. For each of its regions, WAITRO sets one of its member organizations as a Regional Focal Point, who supports the WAITRO Secretariat in promoting WAITRO and SAIRA in their respective regions.

The new Regional Focal Points are:

  • Latin America & the Caribbean: CTA – Centro de Ciencia y Tecnología de Antioquia (Colombia)
  • Middle East & North Africa: ARC – Agricultural Research Center (Egypt)
  • Sub-Saharan Africa: RMRDC – Raw Materials Research and Development Council (Nigeria)
  • Asia & the Pacific: TISTR – Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (Thailand)

Each organization will remain the Focal Points for all members of their region at least for two years. The Regional Focal Point for Europe is still to be decided.
