About WAITRO

The Global Innovation Family

The World Association of Industrial and Technological Research Organizations is an independent, non-governmental and not-for-profit association founded in 1970 under the auspices of the United Nations. WAITRO brings together science, technology and innovation stakeholders, including research and technology organizations and research universities, on an international scale and provides a mechanism for its members and partners to connect, partner, share, inspire, and multiply their contributions to solve global challenges and contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Comprised of all full member organizations of WAITRO.

Consisting of five Regional Representatives, one President and two Vice Presidents.

Secretariat

The operating body responsible for the management of the Association.

  • Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)

  • Consultative status with United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA)

International Partnerships

Legal Status & Management

WAITRO is registered as a not-for-profit corporation in Canada. Secretariat Offices are currently located in Nanjing, China.
The WAITRO Secretariat Office China is currently hosted by Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute (JITRI) and financed by grants from the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Science and Technology.
