Accelerating members’ collective impact on the SDGs

WORKING GROUPS

WAITRO SDG WORKING GROUPS

In 2022, WAITRO establishes four SDG Working Groups, each dedicated to specific areas around one of the following Sustainable Development Goals:

  • SDG 2 (Zero Hunger)
  • SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being)
  • SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation)
  • SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy)

Aims of the Working Groups

  • To strengthen the network and building a pool of experts and potential partners

  • To promote the exchange of ideas and information (e.g. on open calls, available funding opportunities, trends, best practices, etc.)

  • To pool expertise of researchers to kick-start collaborations and contribute to the SDGs

  • To advocate for R&I and develop recommendations on key topics (e.g. writing position papers)

  • To engage private sector (e.g. industrial partners) in research and innovation for the SDGs

  • To engage the international community (e.g. UN bodies)

WAITRO SUMMIT 2022Kick-off Workshops

The WAITRO Summit 2022 will be the starting point of the WAITRO SDG Working Groups. During the kick-off workshops, Working Groups begin to define their goals and develop a strategy and work plan to achieve these goals. The key task of each 90-minute session is to select a chair and agree on overarching goals and next steps. Working Groups are expected to address a clear goal and create outputs. Working Groups call on the Secretariat’s administrative support, while future WAITRO Summits will provide a regular forum for all WAITRO SDG Working Groups to meet and present results.
