22nd General Assembly of WAITRO
The 22nd bi-annual General Assembly of WAITRO in Penang, Malaysia, marked the beginning of a larger reorientation of the Association.
Just a little over a month before the new elected Secretariat took over, a new strategic framework and action plan for the period from 2019 to 2020 was officially adopted by the members. Significantly, WAITRO’s mission and vision have been revised. These changes go back to a strategic meeting in Langkawi, Malaysia, in July where the WAITRO Executive Board met with the former and the new WAITRO Secretariats to discuss WAITRO’s organizational identity in today’s global research climate.
Furthermore, Dominik Reinertz and Anna Wohlrab introduced SAIRA , a digital matchmaking platform and open innovation hub that will serve as one of the main tools to connect WAITRO members and facilitate collaboration with industry, start-ups and strategic partners.
Besides SAIRA, other membership incentives are on the horizon: The WAITRO Fellowship Program, the Capacity Development Program and the WAITRO Innovation Award. It is an exciting time for the Global Innovation Family.
