Water Is the Topic for the Global Innovation Summit
As for today’s UN International Water Day, WAITRO announces the topic for the upcoming conference. WAITRO’s 50th anniversary will be celebrated next year in South Africa, combining the bi-annual general assembly and the newly established WAITRO Global Innovation Summit which will focus on one main global sustainable development challenge each year.
The WAITRO Executive Board and the Secretary General of WAITRO have agreed to make “WATER” the main topic for this event, therefore addressing many global challenges and crises like water scarcity, pollution and wastewater management. Water is an essential element of almost all sustainable development challenges and many of them becoming more important to face day by day. Water scarcity in cities like Chennai and Cape Town or rural areas, wastewater treatment, the pollution of the oceans – Clean water is a necessity and human right that shall be granted to every human. The WAITRO Global Innovation Summit 2020 will address topics like these and hopefully spark innovative discussions, projects and solutions for water-themed challenges.
