WAITRO Holds 25th General Assembly
For the first time in the history of the Association, WAITRO held its bi-annual General Assembly (GA) digitally via Zoom. On October 30th and on the last day of the Global Innovation Summit 2020, the WAITRO Secretariat, the Executive Board and one official delegate from each WAITRO member organization assembled online to discuss the future of the Association.
During the 25th GA, it was officially decided that a new Membership Fee structure will be introduced to modernize and adjust the four membership categories that are in place now. The new structure for the Membership fees will come into effect in 2022; until then all membership fees are waived for all WAITRO member organizations. Furthermore, each delegate at the General Assembly could vote for one of five proposals for the focus topic of the WAITRO Innovation Award 2021. As decided by their votes, next year’s topic will be:
‘New technologies to contribute to food and nutrition security and sustainable agriculture’ addressing SDG 2.
