Webinar on China’s International Science and Technology Cooperation Funding System
On 28th June 2023, WAITRO China office held a webinar entitled “Introduction to China’s International Science and Technology Cooperation Funding System” for the benefit of WAITRO members. The focus was partnership mechanisms between China and Cuba, Mexico, Brazil, South Africa, Uruguay, and Egypt as well as a Program for multiple BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa).
This webinar was the last in a series of four that introduced China’s international science and technology cooperation program and shared key cooperation areas, research directions, funding opportunities and project management mechanisms relevant to major countries and regions. While Horizon Europe is a well-known route to partnering with European research and funding, WAITRO aims to also encourage global partnerships with diverse geographical regions.
Previous events in the series covered China’s funding programs with Germany, Spain, Austria, Sweden, UK, France, Belgium, Russia, Thailand, Australia, Singapore, Philippines, Pakistan and the European Union. In addition, as part of the series, some WAITRO members presented overviews of their organizations and specific cooperation opportunities, including TISTR, VITO, UNSW, CSIR (India), Leitat, etc. In total, over 90 participants took part in the events and partnered with the WAITRO Secretariat to build a bridge for all members to diversify their paths to international cooperation.
