The Liveability Challenge Calls You to Take Action
More than S$2 million in project funding and investment prizes up for grabs, mentoring and networking opportunities
In its sixth edition, The Liveability Challenge (TLC) is on the search for disruptive, groundbreaking solutions capable of removing carbon emissions at scale, restore and regenerate coastal and marine ecosystems or establish a circular, net-zero urban food system.
What is The Liveability Challenge?
The Liveability Challenge is a global platform that hunts for and accelerates the launch of innovative solutions to urban challenges of the 21st century in cities in the tropics. The Challenge is Asia’s biggest prize for sustainability solutions, and a key highlight in Singapore’s calendar of sustainability events.
With five editions successfully concluded, Eco-Business will come together with Temasek Foundation and its wide ecosystem of partners to deliver the sixth edition in 2023 to accelerate urban transformation and deliver significant impact.
What are the prizes?
Finalists will pitch their solutions to a panel of investors at the Grand Finale in June for the chance to secure the grand prize of S$1 million in project funding from Temasek Foundation for each track. Other prizes on the table include a minimum of S$100,000 in funding each from investors such as Planet Rise, Quest Ventures, Rumah Foundation and TRIREC.
The Challenge Timeline
Challenge Theme #1: Climate Change
TLC is looking for innovations that can remove carbon emissions at scale, including revolutionary technology-based carbon capture, utilization and storage solutions; low carbon solutions or solutions that decarbonize energy, urban infrastructure, and transport and logistics systems.
TLC is also looking to support the scaling of viable solutions for ocean ecosystems that include restorative and regenerative efforts for coastal and marine ecosystems.
Challenge Theme #2: Food & Nutrition
With rising constraints on land, water, and energy, coupled with climate change and global supply chain disruptions, there is an increasing need for nations to enhance their food security.
This year’s challenge aims to establish a circular, net-zero urban food system in three areas critical to ensuring food security: agriculture, aquaculture, and alternative nutrition sources (including protein, carbohydrates, and fats).
TLC is seeking breakthrough technologies to provide affordable, nutrient-dense and safe food.
Submit your groundbreaking solution by March 31st.
