2. Experts Share their Exploitation & Disseminiation Models

Our experts will showcase practical approaches to disseminating and exploiting research results, illustrating case examples of their Intellectual Property (IP) management models.

Insight 1) Dissemination & Exploitation in EU Projects
Speaker: Andreas Stäbler (Fraunhofer IVV, Germany)

Senior Researcher Andreas Stäbler will share insights from Fraunhofer IVV, focusing on the dissemination and exploitation of research results in the context of EU-funded projects. His presentation covers:

  • General overview of key considerations for dissemination and exploitation of research results in the context of EU funded projects
  • How to integrate dissemination and exploitation into proposal and project design, including a case example from HEU

Insight 2) Commercialization and Technology Transfer
Speaker: FR Bezuidenhout (North-West University,  South Africa)

Innovation Expert FR Bezuidenhout will share insights from North-West University (NWU), South Africa focusing on transforming project results into tangible outputs and innovations. Bezuidenhouts remarks cover:

  • Case examples of turning project results into marketable products, services and policies
  • Explaining innovation pipelines and commercialization models, by highlighting practical examples
  • Sharing African regional perspective on technology transfer

Insight 3) IP Management System & Successful IP Model
Speaker: Prio Adi Ramadhani (National Research and Innovation Agency BRIN, Indonesia)

Science and Technology Analyst Prio Adi Ramadhani will share insights from BRIN, focusing on institutional approaches to Intellectual Property (IP) management. His remarks cover:

  • IP management system of BRIN, sharing insights to internal IP workflows
  • A success story showcasing licensing of a digital IP management platform, providing insights into a replicable model and guidance on how other institutions could apply it

About the Experts

Prio Adi Ramadhani: As an analyst for Science and Technology Utilization he is currently working at Indonesia’s National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). He specializes in intellectual property management, innovation policy, and technology transfer, supporting research institutions in strengthening their innovation ecosystems and maximizing the societal and economic impact of their work. With experience as an IP analyst, reviewer, and patent drafter, Mr Ramadhani has contributed to patent development, including AI-based text analysis technologies. His expertise bridges research, policy, and commercialization – promoting effective collaboration between academia, industry, and government to advance Indonesia’s innovation landscape.

Andreas Stäbler: Our expert is a senior scientist at the Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging IVV. He is currently an advisor to the institute management for the bioeconomy, internationalization and technology transfer. Besides that he has been involved in developing and conducting numerous EU projects, supporting the consortium in the protection and exploitation of their research results.

FR Bezuidenhout: As a specialist in technology transfer and innovation FR Bezuidenhout is dedicated to turning engineering and research projects into commercial successes – from product development to market entry. At North-West University (South Africa), Mr Bezudenhout has devised IP management and protection, managed marketing efforts, and fostered collaborations with local, governmental, and international partners. Achievements include securing significant national and international funding, leading successful licensing negotiations that generate revenue for NWU, and supporting the creation of start-ups that bring university technologies to market.
