Steffen Hanning is a Junior Officer for Digital Infrastructure and Outreach at WAITRO Operations, where he supports the organization’s digital ecosystem, communication activities, and stakeholder engagement. His work focuses on managing and improving digital platforms, strengthening WAITRO’s online presence, and supporting the planning and delivery of international events and collaborative initiatives.
Prior to joining WAITRO, Steffen was involved in organizing and promoting cultural and educational events as well as public engagement initiatives. He also contributed to outreach and social media strategies for academic institutions and facilitated political education workshops focusing on anti-hate speech and democratic awareness.
Steffen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from the University of Münster and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Communication at the University of Vienna. He also completed vocational training in electronics for industrial and automation technology, providing him with a unique combination of technical expertise and communication skills.
With experience in digital communications, website management, SEO strategy, content development, podcasting, music journalism, and broadcast media, Steffen brings an interdisciplinary and innovative perspective to his role at WAITRO. He is fluent in English and has working knowledge of Italian and French.
Through his work, Steffen supports WAITRO’s mission by developing digital infrastructure, enhancing communication and knowledge sharing, and helping deliver impactful international events that connect research and innovation organizations around the world.
