Hans-Erich Schulz brings over 25 years of senior and project management experience across diverse sectors including mining, manufacturing, transportation, technical services, and sustainable development, spanning both public and private sectors. 

He has led several climate and environmental initiatives with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), including the Low Emission Capacity Building (LECB) Programme and the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) Support Programme for Trinidad and Tobago. He also oversaw the development of the country’s National Implementation Plan for Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs). 

Mr. Schulz holds a BSc in Biochemistry and MSc degrees in both Chemistry and Environmental Management. He also holds an MBA in Marketing Management and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). 

Since 2022, Mr. Schulz has served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Caribbean Industrial Research Institute (CARIRI), where he continues to lead strategic initiatives at the intersection of innovation, research, and sustainable development. 

Mr. Schulz was elected First Vice-President of WAITRO for the 2023–2024 term and re-elected for 2025–2026.
