A short introduction and overview of the session’s objectives and its relevance for WAITRO members.

2. Presentation & Training Session on AI
Speaker: Dr Fatih Sinan Esen (TÜBITAK, Turkey)

Our expert Dr Faith Sinan Esen will guide you through an interactive format on how to effectively use AI in your daily project work. The session will cover:

  • How AI tools can help identify suitable funding opportunities
  • Using AI strategies to discover potential partners and build strong international consortia
  • Applying AI to support proposal development, from structuring ideas to improving clarity and coherence
  • Understanding the benefits and limitations of AI in research funding, including where it adds the most value and where human expertise remains essential
  • Exploring ethical and legal considerations when integrating AI tools into project management
  • An introduction to AI Agents and AI Labs, and how these emerging tools can support research processes and collaboration workflows

About the Expert

Dr Fatih Sinan Esen: Scientific Programs Senior Expert and Computer Scientist, Researcher, as well as Author who is specialized in artificial intelligence, large language models, AI ethics, and open data. He conducts research particularly in natural language processing and large language models, and works extensively on the responsible and reliable use of these technologies as well as combating disinformation. Since 2007, he has been working full-time at TÜBİTAK, contributing to the public’s digital transformation and the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy through innovative projects.
