Steffen Hanning is a Junior Officer for Events and Outreach at WAITRO Operations, supporting the planning, organization, and communication of events and stakeholder engagement initiatives. His background combines technical expertise, creative communication, and hands-on experience in event organization and public relations.
Prior to joining WAITRO, Steffen was involved in organizing and promoting cultural and educational events and public engagement work. He also contributed to outreach and social media strategies for academic institutions and worked in political education workshops focusing on anti-hate speech and democratic awareness.
Steffen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from the University of Münster and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Communication at the University of Vienna. He also completed a vocational education program in electronics for industrial and automation technology.
With additional experience in podcasting, music journalism, and broadcast media, Steffen brings a diverse and innovative approach to his role at WAITRO. He is fluent in English and has working knowledge of Italian and French.
Through his work, Steffen supports WAITRO’s mission by helping connect research organizations and partners through dynamic, inclusive, and well-coordinated events.
